Good Faith Estimate Notice

Effective date: September 20, 2026

Your right to receive a Good Faith Estimate

Under federal law, healthcare providers generally must give patients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance for a service, an estimate of the expected charges for scheduled healthcare items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your psychotherapy services. The estimate should include the expected charges for the primary service and other items or services reasonably expected to be provided as part of the same period of care.

  • If you schedule care at least three business days in advance, ask when your written estimate will be provided.
  • You may also ask for a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling.
  • Save a copy or photograph of your estimate.

If the bill is substantially higher

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than the Good Faith Estimate from a provider or facility, you may be able to dispute the bill through the federal patient–provider dispute-resolution process.

For questions or more information about your rights, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call the federal No Surprises Help Desk at 1-800-985-3059.
